Research Blog: Commercial

I will be doing a Gatorade commercial. In almost all Gatorade commercial there is an athlete performing some type of sporting activity (Running, Playing Tennis, or Basketball).

  • The costumes in Gatorade commercials often feature sporting gear like running shoes, shorts, sports bra's, or compression shirts.
  • The sound used in Gatorade commercials is often an upbeat soundtrack to get the audience pumped and interested in the commercial.
  • Most gatorade commercial use tracking shots that follow the athlete as they workout and work up a sweat. They also often feature close up shots of an athlete drinking Gatorade before the camera cuts.
  • The actors in Gatorade commercials are often superstar athletes who are dripping with sweat and with the lighting adding a glow effect to their skin while they are working out.
  • The props included in Gatorade commercial are Gatorade bottles, sports balls and  gatorade towels that are being used by the athletes.
  • The camera is positioned to be at eye level, a low angle, or a high angle when filming.

1. The codes and Conventions of a Gatorade commercial include the brand logo being shown on bottles, towels and sign in different shots. This branding helps grab the attention of the audience and show that Gatorade is taking over the sporting world.
2. In the commercials they also feature a few inspirational words towards the end. This is done to motivate the audience to get out there and achieve their sporting dreams and while carrying out those dreams grab a gatorade to keep you at your best.
3. They often feature popular athletes to convey to the audience that even the best of the best are drinking Gatorade so they should too.
