CCR: COMMERCIAL REFLECTION

Creative Critical Reflection 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? The product uses a soundtrack that gets the audience pumped up and ready to work out. While also capturing different camera angles to help the audience really captivate every scene. The product represents the athletic/gym rats social group who love to get up and move around a lot. The product targets this social group to help them stay hydrated and in shape because athletes/gym rats are in constant motion losing fluids. So the product captures those components and applies them to help them relate and want to try out the product for themselves. 2.  How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? The commercial engages the audience by taking them on a short trip of an athlete working out and losing body fluids to portray when the

The brand I choose for this commercial was Gatorade which is the pinnacle of sports drinks for athletes across the world. When I first started developing ideas for this commercial I didn't think they would come out well and it took a while to think of something that would be visually appealing. The filming process took 3 days and those were probably the longest 3 days of my life. I had to film multiple takes of the same scene and on the first day of filming I was only able to get 1 scene done up to a good standard. In all I think it took me around 3-4 hours to film the scenes for the commercial. Which allowed me to be in the shoes of a director and see what's it's like to have to do takes over and over again until you got that perfect shot. The editing process was probably my favorite and least favorite part of this whole project. While editing this commercial I got stressed out multiple times wanted to quit and I even thought about throwing the whole idea out the window an

Editing Blog: Commercial

Today was the final day of filming and it was probably the toughest thing I've had to do throughout this whole process. I only had to more scenes to edit together but it just felt impossible to get them where I wanted to be. I was making the same mistakes over and over again and couldn't seem to figure out how to stop it from happening. There was a brief blank screen in between each seen which made the commercial hard to follow so I had to take my time and try to figure it out. After a while since I couldn't figure out how to fix my problem I went on YouTube a found out how to do resolve the issue. This helped me a lot but this was only one of the issues I had with editing the first of two scenes that I had to do. The other issue I had while editing the first scene was that certain parts of the shot would get really blurry while processing in the editing software. So I had to figure out a way to bypass the blurriness that would occur when importing the scene. It took

Today was the first day of editing after the long filming process. The first step I did before fully starting the editing process was making sure that I got the best of every scene. Then I made sure that the editing software that I was going to use had all the contents I needed to create a good looking commercial. I knew I wouldn't have the time to finish it in one day so I broke it down into two days. On the first day I would do scenes 2-5 because they would be the easiest to do because of how the scenes flowed on top of each other. On the second day I will edit scenes 1 and 6 because scene number 6 requires me to get a image of the Gatorade logo post it on a black background and add some inspirational words under it. Scene number 1  will be done on the second day because this is a moving shot transitioning into a mid shot so I want to make sure everything flows correctly off this scene. When I first started I was super excited because it was my first time ever really editing any

Filming Blog: Gatorade Commercial

Today I filmed the final 3 scenes for the commercial, like the previous two scenes we struggled at first with things like lighting. It was hotter than normal today so the sun really started to impact the quality of the scenes as well. So i took a little break from filming and rehydrated so that I wouldn’t fall out from heat exhaustion. After a while I got back to filming the scenes and the quality just kept getting better and better. Until I finally got that perfect shot where everything ran smoothly from the acting to the lighting but that was only the first scene of the day. I took another brief break after getting the desired shot for  scene number 3. This scene was the hardest of the bunch to film because I wanted to get a perfect transition from scene 3 to scene 4 so it is visually pleasing. For this scene I had to do a close up shot which it was my first time performing this type of camera angle. This was the first of two close up scenes that I had to film for the commercial so
