CCR: COMMERCIAL REFLECTION
Creative Critical Reflection
1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
The product uses a soundtrack that gets the audience pumped up and ready to work out. While also capturing different camera angles to help the audience really captivate every scene. The product represents the athletic/gym rats social group who love to get up and move around a lot. The product targets this social group to help them stay hydrated and in shape because athletes/gym rats are in constant motion losing fluids. So the product captures those components and applies them to help them relate and want to try out the product for themselves.
2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
The commercial engages the audience by taking them on a short trip of an athlete working out and losing body fluids to portray when the product is mostly used. Which gives off a similar energy to commercials from other sports drink brands like body armor and Powerade. The commercial would get out to the audience through social platforms like YouTube and instagram while also airing on live tv during commercial breaks. So that the audience is really able to soak in the content and interpret the message.
3. How did your production skill develop throughout this project?
Throughout the production of the commercial I was able to develop better editing skills which helped me perform a clean transition between the scenes so that they flow smoothly. Which I struggled with at first but as time progressed I got better at it. I was also able to develop my filming skills and incorporate different camera angles for the first time ever. So I was able to really get that sports drinks commercial feel by incorporating both of these techniques.
4. How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware and online- in this project
I used my phone to film all the scenes for the commercial because modern day phones often have better cameras then some of the older models of professional cameras. Its features allowed my to record high quality scenes and get clear zoomed in shots from a far distance. I also used my laptops editing software to mesh the clips together once I was done filming. The editing software on my laptop allowed me to trim the videos down so that they fit well together. Lastly the editing software also supplied me with a variety of soundtracks to put behind the finished product which made the editing process a little bit easier.
