Title Website Research
The first site in which I analyzed to see what a traditional title design looks like was www.artofthetitle.com. I wanted to find a site that would provide me with a bunch of options on title designs in my chosen genre and for ones that were outside of my genre. While I was on this site I wanted to just browse and see what title designs it had to offer. Upon first glance the site seemed to lack much diversity to me. As I continued to browse the site though I found a lot of opening sequences from older films. While also finding opening sequences for the modern films that have updated technology and really make the title design pop. To see what the title design of other films in my genre looked liked and how they would portray the background of the film. In order to get a grasp of what my opening sequence should look like when prepping to film. I even took the time out to stop and look at a few of the opening sequences from horror films across time. Taking away some potential inspiration for my own title design that will invoke fear in the audience from the start.
The second website in which I analyzed to see what it had to offer was www.watchthetitles.com. This site was a lot more appealing upon first glance categorizing the different type of title designs it had to offer. It was also pretty easy to navigate and browse through the titles. Even with that being said the catalog of title sequences wasn't as adverse as I would have liked it to be. When searching for films that were within my genre and were more modern I didn't find very much to go off of. The website had barely anything that really stood out to me which was what I was looking for when analyzing. The title sequences that I was able to find within my genre were pretty bare bones and didn't really provide me with a lot of creative direction. In which I would have liked to take away from the website especially since I have a lot of editing softwares at my disposal. That would help me bring in an audience just from the preview of who helped produce the film. While the website lacked opening sequences from more modern it provides a good alternative to the other site in which I analyzed in case I want to incorporate something from an older horror film that would make it feel more eerie and daunting.
