Production Blog: Filming the Beginning

So, on the first filming day I was able to get most of the scenes for my final task done. The first day of filming was much easier than the last time is started the filming process. I was able to get the first 10 scenes done with some minor difficulties in between   Seeing as this is only my third time filming a project, I think I did a pretty good job so far on what I’ve filmed. I spent the rest of the time that I had left over for that day thinking about how I was going to improve the quality for the second half of the filming process.

Having adapted to recording on my phone this time around the quality of the scenes was pretty good in my opinion.  At first, though the videos were kind of dark because of the lighting that I was trying to use and to get some of the scenes done but I was able to adjust it and make it brighter. So, I hit the record but and let the acting commence and see how the clips would come out. Once I figured out exactly how to adjust the lighting so that the scene portrayed the image that I wanted but still had an eerie felling the ball was rolling.   It took a few takes because the lighting wasn’t panning out well in the first few cuts with the lighting adjustment.

After I finished recording the first few scenes of the final task, I took a little break to review and reflect on the that we’re taken so far. Some of the takes weren’t the best so I am going to refilm them on the second day of my filming process. As soon as I started recording again for the easier scenes of the final task that didn’t require a lot of work, I got a lot done. Everything was perfect in the clip there was good lighting, and the camera movement was perfect. Since all that needed to be done was recording the actor from a short distance as they used a laptop that was placed in front of them or required them to pick up a phone.

Overall, the first day of filming had a few minor problems but were easy to resolve or will be resolved on the second day of filming. Now that I have enhanced my filming skills a little bit there is a difference in the quality in previous projects that I have filmed for. I’ve figured out a good technique for making it seem as if scenes were filmed all in one which I feel is a huge accomplishment. I am looking forward to day 2 of filming as this is where I get to film the masked figure scenes which really requires great accuracy when filming. For now, though I’m going to continue to review the clips I have already gathered so that day 2 and 3 can go as smoothly as possible and flow directly into the editing process.
