Production Blog: Hard Work Behind The Camera

Today I filmed the middle potion of my final task much like the first day of filming I had little to no problems filming the scenes that I needed to. It was kind of hot today, so I was trying to get the scenes filmed as quickly as possible so that I could get off the sun. When I filmed the first few scenes for the day, I decided to take a break because of how chilly it was outside. I went inside and got some hot tea to drink to warm me up a little bit. After a while I got back to filming the scenes and the quality got a little bit better since I had warmed myself up. Until I finally got the shots where and everything ran smoothly from the acting.

I took another brief break after getting the desired shot for the proceeding scenes Then I hit a wall filming the scene where the figure would be standing in a glass door peeking in on the main actor. In which I had to film using an over the shoulder shot. This was the first of two over the shoulder shots in the film for the final task, so I had to make some adjustments to how I was filming and quickly. Once I figured out a good technique for how to film an over the shoulder shot, I knew that I would be able to pass over it quickly in the next day of filming.

Then it was on to the eight scene of the day I could practically see the finish line on the other side. I would only have to more scenes to film for the day then I would be done. The eight scene was the easiest of them all that needed to be done was simply film the actor on the phone with their friend while the unknown entity would be standing behind them in the glass door. I really took my time with this final because I had all the time in the world to film. Lucky for me the lightning and acting was perfect, and I was able to get the scene I needed in a relatively short amount of time takes. Before I started to pack things up for the day, I made sure that every scene was to my liking and made sure that no adjustments needed to be made.

The second day was way easier than the first there were so little bumps in bruises, but it was a good day. For the most vital filming project I’ve had throughout this course I feel like I did a lot better than my first experience.  With this experience I used my new adapted filming skills to get the longer scenes with more content in them done. Now that the filming process is almost over though I compiled the clips from the first day of filming and the second day and got to work on piecing things together. So that I would be fully prepared for the editing stages and hopefully have things together when it was time for me to start editing the clips together.
